Pengumuman pemenang rencananya akan berlangsung pada 13 April 2022, bertempat di New York International Auto Show. Acara yang akan bertajuk World Car Finals Powered by Brembo ini sudah mendapatkan finalis Top Ten dan Top Five dari enam kategori penghargaan. Hasil penjurian sudah ditabulasikan oleh KPMG.

Sebanyak 102 orang juri yang terdiri dari para jurnalis otomotif ternama dari 33 negara terlibat dalam penilaian para finalis. Proses voting dilakukan secara rahasia berdasarkan evaluasi setiap jurnalis terhadap setiap kendaraan yang memenuhi syarat sebagai bagian dari pekerjaan profesional mereka. Bahkan, salah satu juri berasal dari Indonesia, yaitu Munawar Chalil, Publisher & Group Editor-In-Chief, OTO.com, Carvaganza.com dan Zigwheels.co.id.

Tersaring sepuluh finalis terbaik penghargaan tertinggi, World Car of The Year (WCOTY). Kategori paling bergengsi ini sebelumnya memiliki 28 kandidat. Berikut ini 10 kandidat untuk WCOTY 2022:

Khusus kategori World Car Design of the Year, melibatkan panel juri yang berpengalaman spesifik di bidang desain, baik dari industri otomotif dan non-otomotif. Juri khusus desain ini meliputi Gernot Bracht, Ian Callum, Patrick le Quement, Tom Matano, Victor Nacif, dan Shiro Nakamura.

Pengumuman para pemenang akan digelar dan disiarkan langsung dari New York International Auto Show, tepatnya pada hari Rabu, 13 April 2022. Namun untuk World Car of the Year baru akan diumumkan Top Three (tiga besar), sementara pemenang terbaiknya menyusul diumumkan dua hari setelahnya, di World Car Finals Powered by Brembo.

"Kami bangga menjadi bagian dari program penghargaan otomotif paling penting di planet ini," kata presiden New York Auto Show, Mark Schienberg. “Kami sangat antusias terhadap acara ini dan menunggu pemenangnya secara langsung di Auto Show pada bulan April. Dua tahun terakhir memang telah menjadi tantangan yang berat bagi semua orang. Tapi sekarang pembeli mobil siap untuk keluar dan merasakan semua kendaraan dan teknologi baru yang menakjubkan yang ditawarkan industri ini. Proses penjurian para finalis bisa disaksikan melalui tayangan The Road to World Car Awards yang bisa disaksikan di kanal World Car TV di YouTube. Di sana, para juri menguji dan memberikan testimoninya langsung terhadap para kandidat yang dilombakan tahun ini.
