What time is Packers playoff Saturday?

The 2022 NFL playoffs continue with an action-packed Divisional Round today. It all starts with two matchups Saturday, beginning with the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the Tennessee Titans at 4:30 p.m. ET. Then, the San Francisco 49ers are slated to battle it out against the Green Bay Packers at 8:15 p.m. ET.

What time is Packers playoff Saturday?

The 49ers are coming off a dramatic 23-17 upset against the Dallas Cowboys. Jimmy Garoppolo went 16-of-25 for 172 yards and threw a late interception that nearly got Dallas back in the game. The quarterback is fighting through injuries to his thumb and shoulder, but is confident he’ll play Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Packers had an extra week to rest after securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC and guaranteeing homefield advantage. That time could be the difference maker for banged up players like Aaron Rodgers, who has been playing through a fractured toe since November.

The Packers narrowly defeated the 49ers 30-28 back in Week 3, thanks to a 51-yard field goal by Mason Crosby. However, the rivalry is rooted much deeper than just this season. These teams have squared up in the playoffs eight times, with each team splitting wins at four apiece. “I’ve been around and played a lot of football. I understand the history of this rivalry, the history of us against them,” Rodgers told reporters. “But these are two different teams.”

It's fitting that when the Packers and 49ers meet in the NFC divisional round on Saturday, there'll be history afoot at Lambeau Field. This game is the ninth playoff game between the two, an NFL record, and it's one where San Francisco is looking to win for multiple reasons.

For starters, a win would give the Niners the 5-4 edge in the series and more importantly, it would help avenge a Week 3 loss wherein they scored with too much time left on the clock, allowing Green Bay to march down the field and kick a field goal to win the game. The last time these two teams faced off in the postseason was 2019 when San Francisco won 37-20 en route to a Super Bowl berth.

The Packers are well-rested and coming off a bye, while the 49ers are coming off a controversial, down-to-the-wire win over Dallas in the wild-card round. In that game, Jimmy Garoppolo didn't play particularly well, throwing for just 172 yards and a pick. But, he got bailed out by a strong ground game, an imposing defense and 14 penalties against the Cowboys, including four for a first down.

Notably, though, Garoppolo apparently entered the game with a thumb injury and left the game with both a thumb and a newfound shoulder injury. It remains to be seen how healthy he'll be for this game against the Packers, but he regardless, he said he'll suit up and take the field on Saturday.

Green Bay has injuries of its own it's dealing with, notably to All-Pro offensive lineman David Bakhtiari and All-Pro defensive back Jaire Alexander. Both have been limited in practice in the lead up to this game, so it remains to be seen whether they'll play or not.

Throughout the regular season, Green Bay ranked 10th in both total offense and scoring offense thanks to the work of Aaron Rodgers, who seems in line to pick up his fourth NFL MVP award. San Francisco, meanwhile, ranked ninth in total defense and third in scoring defense, meaning this may prove to be a strength-on-strength matchup.
